During a blog review today a fellow peer suggested that I could look into the concept of animating the transitions between each medium; creating one short film piece of character actions leading from one medium to the next. Rather than producing 3 separate character animations of the same action(s) within each medium (2-D traditional, 2-D Digital, and Stop-Motion Paper Cutout.)
This is something that I believe could make my final piece much more rounded and complete. However, I feel it would be moving away from the initial key brief I have set myself which is; to consider the differences I need to take into account when designing a character for multiple mediums and then evaluating the benefits/disadvantages of each process and in what ways the character animation of the specific actions differ.
So it is not a primary target at the moment, for me to animate a good transition between the different mediums. Although, once I meet my brief it is an area that I could look into further at that stage. As it could then lead me into the concept of mixing mediums or using multiple mediums within a single scene or shot, in order to gain the best animation performance I can provide with a character. For example trying to work out all the benefits from each medium and then experimenting with bringing them together, as a form of hybrid st
